Madison Reed Hair Color Subscription Box Review

Madison Reed is a new subscription service that delivers salon-quality hair color to you each month. I used to dye my hair all the time, but stopped when I had my daughter. I’ve been dying for a change, so when the company kindly offered me a box to review, I had to say yes!

The Cost: $24.95 per box

The Products: Each month you will receive:

  • Radiant Cream Color & Conditioning Color Activator
  • Nourishing Color Enhancing Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Barrier Cream
  • 2 Pair Professional-Grade Gloves
  • Cap
  • Cleansing Wipes

Madison Reed also allows you to have a flexible subscription time. You can choose to get your box delivered anytime between 4 – 10 weeks depending on how often you need to recolor or touch up your hair. They also have an option to add in extra hair color if your hair is long or thick.

I decided to get Milano Brown and despite having both long and thick hair, I just got the regular box without the add-on hair color.

Everything comes in this sturdy box in its own labelled compartment and attached instructions for easy application for first-timers.

Here is a close-up of some of the instructions. I used to spread out the hair color any which way and hope for the best. I love being able to see how it is actually supposed to be done. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow.

I love the presentation of this box. Everything is clearly labeled in its own compartment.

Thoughts: I loved the ease of the application and everything smelled incredible! I felt great using the hair dye because it was ammonia, paraben, PPD and resorcinal free. As I mentioned previously, I have long, thick hair (it’s not as nice as it may sound!) and I regretted opting for just the regular box without the extra coloring add-on because I ended up needing it. My plan was to do before and after shots, but because I didn’t have enough color, my hair did not lighten as much as I would have liked. My highlights did turn a beautiful shade of brown, but there is no real noticeable difference. I will be trying Madison Reed  again, except with the right amount of hair dye and I will be sure to do another review with my results.
