Bergdorf Goodman Glossybox May 2014 (Double Box review)

glossybox review

For some reason, I received two boxes from Glossybox last month. I offered to return the second box, but they said I was able to keep it. It was a really great box. so I was more than happy to keep both!

glossybox 1

Lancer Eye Contour Lifting Cream
ReVive Intensité Volumizing Eye Serum

I love how this works. I notice instant results with it, but it is super expensive, so I will probably not purchase it on my own.

glossybox 2

Alternia Cavair CC Cream

I received this in a Sample Society box a few months back and loved it! I was so happy to get another sample because it goes back quickly with my thick hair.

Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer

This makes my skin feel so soft and smooth. I like to wear it alone sometimes just for the way it feels.

glossybox 3

Chantecaille Luminous Gloss

I love the color and shine of this gloss!

Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme Cologne Absolue

This is very floral which I like, but it has a slight heavy, but not quite musky note in it that isn’t really for me.

glossybox 4

Lancome Absolute L’Extracit Regenerating Ultimate Elixir

Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme Cologne Absolue

Revive Eye Renewal Serum Firming Booster

Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer

 Lancer Eye Contour Lifting Cream

This is another one of those really expensive products that I adore, but can never afford to purchase. It works amazingly.

Philip B Light-Weight Deep Conditioning Creme Rinse

We received Philip B products a few months back, so I am thinking a few boxes got this product because they ran out of everything else. It does not make an appearance in most of the other reviews from other blogs for this box. I like their products a lot, so I don’t mind.

Thoughts: The quality and value of the boxes is incredible. Definitely my favorite Glossybox month out of the year I’ve been getting their boxes. What I love about Glossybox is that it is the best way to try the very high-end products for next to nothing. If there is something you don’t like (such as the perfume in this box for me), it is very easy to gift or trade.

Golden Tote Review July 2014

Golden Tote is a popular women’s clothing subscription that offers two tote options: the $49 tote which has 2 -3 items and a $200 value or their $149 tote which has 5 – 7 items and a value of $600. You get to pick your first piece (two for the larger tote) and they surprise you with the rest of the items based off a few simple questions. Currently, they only offer up to size L – XL, so when they kindly offered me a box to review, I was happy to say yes and order a tote for my mother and sisters.

The Cost: $149 (or $49 for the smaller tote)

The Box: Golden Tote is a women’s clothing subscription with designer clothes from new and popular designers, plus Golden Tote exclusives!

*Please excuse the wrinkles, our iron broke when we started to try to iron out the clothes!

Cut + Sew by Golden Tote

Celebrity Pink Jeans Shorts

I love this look together and think it looks so cool and summery on my sister. The shorts aren’t something I or my sister would normally ever choose, but we both agree it looks great on her.

golden tote review

Relaxed & Refined Blouse

This was one of the choices I made for my tote. I thought it would be good for my mother because she has a black & white dress code.

golden tote review

Roly Poly Blouse

I love this top so, so much. This is something I would get for myself and wear almost every day.

Garden Blooms Dress

This is the second item I chose because it is gorgeous! I love the style and print of this dress and it is something I would choose for myself.

golden tote review july 2014

Priddy by Puella Dress

This is my mother’s favorite item in the whole tote. The back detail is just gorgeous and the dress drapes beautifully.

Thoughts: I think for the value, this is such a great box to get. Even if you can’t get a Golden Tote every month, it is still something I would consider getting at least once a season. The clothes seem to fit pretty true to size. The clothes are all size M, except for the shorts which are S and my mother is a size M, while my sister is a size XS – S. I love the quality and the designers they feature. It would be great if they did a separate tote option for plus-sized women and designers in the future!

Wantable Makeup Box Review June/July 2014

wantable makeup box review

So, I ordered a Wantable Make Up Box June 24th, which is supposed to be when they start sending the July boxes (the start date for the next month’s box is always on the 24th), and I somehow ended up with a June and July box. They featured some of the same great brands, so I was actually really happy to be getting both!

The Cost: $36 a month

The Box: Wantable Makeup Box is all about full-sized makeup from popular and upcoming brands

Other Reviews: You can read my past Wantable reviews here.

Tarina Taratino Pearl Glow Primer ($32)

I love primers that have a reflective quality to them because they add a youthful dewy look under your makeup. This has a really nice consistency and gives you a bit of an etheral glow to you.

Tarina TaratinoBlack Fleur De Lash Mascara ($19)

I like this mascara because it does a great job at lengthening your lashes and does not clump.

Spellbound Nail Lacquer Love Spell ($14)

I love this shade of pink. I love wearing pink nail polish in the summer, so this is the perfect addition to my collection.

Mirabella Perfecting Powder ($30)

I love that this makes your makeup last longer while also providing anti-aging benefits. It’s two products for the price of one and works great.

wantable make up box july

Tarina Tarantino Jewel Shadow Fantastical Palette ($32)

Purple eye shadow was a signature look of mine throughout college. I’ve since gone to more neutral colors, but I would love to restart my old look once again!

Tarina Taratino Eye Dream Hyper Liner Ultraviolet ($15)

I love experimenting with colored liners, so I was really happy to get this in the box.

Three Custom Color Brow Powder #5 ($22.50)

I am all about the brows, so I always ask for as many brow products as possible. I love how this blends into your natural color.

Three Custom Color Wet/Dry Cake Liner Sage ($22.50)

This can be used as a shadow or liner. I am very excited to give this a try.

Spellbound Nail Lacquer Talisman ($14)

I have a nail color very similar to this that I love and wore a lot in Spring, I love it because it is very bright and works well as an accent to many different colors.

Thoughts: I love both boxes and the value is really great for both boxes! I am really in love with Tarina Taratino and Three Custom Color now! Wantable is my favorite subscription because of the quality of the products, value and the fact that you can return your box for a full refund if you are unhappy!

Flip Flop Notebook and Sticky Set

I know any young girl would love using this while making lists and getting ready for a trip to the beach.

Flip Flop Lip Gloss

This tiny little flip flop is just the cutest thing ever. The gloss is also sheer which is good if you don’t want your tween wearing any bold colors on their lips.

boodle box review june 2014

Cosmetic Bag and Brush Holder

This is just too cute and can hold more than just your makeup and brushes which makes this even more fantastic.

Ruby Wing Crowd Surf Color-Changing Nail Polish

I’ve always wanted to try the Ruby Wing color changing polish, so it is so great to see some in the box.

boodle box review june 2014

Katy Perry Solid Perfume Locket

I looked at this before taking a look at the product card and had no idea what it was. I love the idea behind solid perfume, and the fact that this doubles as a cute accessory makes it even better.

boodle box review june 2014

Flip Flop Bling Strips

These are so cute. I remember when I was younger I would bling out my flip flops all the time.

Flip flop Manicure Set

I love this little manicure set. It is perfect for a quick mani while you are relaxing at the beach.

Thoughts: I loved how on-theme this box was. Perfect for trips to the beach and just celebrating the fact that it is officially summer! The value is also really impressive at over $73. I gave this box to a tween I know and she loved everything in the box, she couldn’t get over all the cute flip flop products.

Subscription Maven on Vacation!

After a lot of thought, I decided that it is time for a much needed vacation! So, for the next couple of months, there will be limited reviews – mostly quick mini reviews with pictures of the box and a quick rundown of what is in the box and a general review. I have a TON of reviews backed up, so those will be finished first, mostly with the old format. All boxes from companies I work with (and some of my favorite boxes, like Popsugar), will get the traditional review format.

In the meantime, for things like spoilers and the latest coupon codes, I highly recommend checking out a fellow blogger and awesome friend of mine, MommySplurge for US addicts and A Year of Boxes for my Canadian addicts. If you just want to catch up with me, feel free to shoot me an email or go check out my other blog which will run as normal.

Expect to see a lot of the older reviews pop up shortly, and have a great summer!

Brides Magazine – Value $12

I was hoping to get a magazine with Coco on the cover, but this was not a great magazine for me to get (my fiancee and I are no longer in a relationship), but Coco does look stunning in this magazine!

Senhoa Champagne Delight II Bracelet – Value $45

This is modeled after the bracelet Coco wore during her own wedding which I thought was really neat. The bracelet has this wonderful vintage look that I adore.

coco rocha fancy box review

Hangster Photo Display – Value $13

This is such a cute way to hang photos. I can definitely picture hanging these up in my office.

coco rocha fancy box review

Studio Sarah Thank You Card – Value $6

It’s not the most exciting thing to get in a subscription box unless it is one of those stationary boxes. At least it will get used..

coco rocha fancy box review

Cargo Essential Smokey Eye Palette- Retail Value $34

I love palettes like this and I love the neutral colors. Not to mention the packaging is very cute too!

Thoughts: I did not know what to expect with the Coco Rocha Fancy box. I will use a lot of the products, while others may not get as much use (like the magazine). It is a good box and the products I will use are the higher values products in the box which is good. What did you think of the Coco Rocha Fancy box?

Homegrown Collective Review June 2014

homegrown collective review

I’ve wanted to try Homegrown Collective for months. Finally, I decided I could not wait any longer and signed up for a three-month subscription. I was so thrilled when I got my first box in the mail.

The Product cards and DIYs. This month you could make hot or cold infused oil and balsamic vinegar or use your ingredients for a foot scrub.

homegrown collective review

The spices

I love that Homegrown Collective only sources local and organic herbs for their boxes.

homegrown collective review

The containers

I think the containers for the oil and vinegar are incredibly cute.

homegrown collective review

The extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar

Both taste incredible on their own. The oil has a nice sweet and floral note, while the vinegar has a wonderful tang to it.

homegrown collective review

The extras

I did not want to use the oil for the foot scrub, so I used the stone using my own ingredients I had at home. All the pieces are really nice quality and I will be able to keep them for ages.

Thoughts: I thought this was a great first box for me, especially since I live off extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar during the summer. I love that they provide different ways to use the ingredients, and two different ways to infuse the oil and vinegar, depending on your comfort level. I did not include values because the true value of this box rests in the project more than anything else. I can’t wait until I can get next month’s box! What do you think of Homegrown Collective?

FabKids Review June 2014

It’s been a year since I last reviewed FabKids, so I thought now would be a good time to give them another try.

The Cost: $29.95

The Products: FabKids is related to JustFab and Fabletics. Each month you will be charged the monthly fee which you can apply to a new outfit for your child.

Other Reviews: You can read my past FabKids reviews here.

Gingham Bow Dress – Retail Value $29.95

I absolutely love this dress for the summer months! It is so rustic and I want to buy my daughter a pair of little cowgirl boots to match!

Back Zip Heart Dress – Retail Value $29.95

This I bought for the cooler days and the fall months. I love the navy blue with the bit of neon yellow in the back. It has a very retro feel that I adore.

fabkids review

I couldn’t get her to stay still long enough to get a nice shot of what the dress looks like. This is a size S (4 – 5) and she normally wears a size 3T – 4T, the last outfit we bought last year was an XS and I felt it shrunk a lot after we washed it, so I like that this dress fit a little better.

Thoughts: The quality of the outfits is great, especially considering the price. I do not always like the styles offered on the site, but you can find a few gems like these two dresses every so often. While I do think their regular price listed is a bit inflated, the VIP price is right on mark with what I would pay in a department store for similar like, kind and quality. What do you think about FabKids?

This is super cute. I wanted to get this or the blue and white polka dot turband, so I was pleased to get this in my box. Unfortunately, I do not feel as though I pull it off, so this will be given away.

Thoughts: I liked this box a lot, but I am not totally in love with it. (I think I am still a little upset that the turband doesn’t look too great on me!) Overall, I think it’s a great box for warm spring weather and getting ready for summer and I think the value of this box is just amazing for the price you pay. I think you can still sign up for the summer box which ships at the end of the month. What did you think of the Spring 2014 FabFitFun VIP Box?

Wantable Intimates Review June 2014

wantable intimates review

Wantable has some of the best boxes for me and I usually love everything I get. I decided that this month I wanted to compare the larger size products from Wantable Intimates with a smaller size to see the difference in products, so I decided to get a box for my mom who is a size M.

The Cost: $36 a month ($40 for a one-time box)

The Products: Wantable Intimates includes a variety of intimates including loungewear, socks, soft bras and nightgowns. The specific types of items you get is dependent upon your profile questionnaire.

Pucker Up! Emily Flyaway Pink Babydoll – Retail Value $34

This is just so adorable, I wish it was in my size! It is definitely something I would wear, but my mother will probably end up giving this to one of my sisters.

Thoughts: This was a great box! I definitely think smaller sizes have a much cuter variety compared to the larger sizes (XL and up). There are still lots of cute things for larger women, but a box like this is more my style. I know my mother will love getting this box. What did you think of the June Wantable Intimates box?
