andrew zimmerman quarterly co

I am so glad to finally get a review done for my Andrew Zimmern Quarterly Co box! This was my first Quarterly Co. box and I could not have been more thrilled to finally see what Andrew Zimmern included in his #ZIM02 box.

Here is a basic Asian sauce recipe provided in the box.

I usually buy the cheapest soy sauce available, but to have a quality sauce like this around. I do not think I can ever go back.

Pok Pok Som Drinking Vinegar – Retail Value $15

Verdant Tea Master Han’s Wild Picked Yunkan Black Tea – Retail Value $14

I was a little nervous about trying this tea because I am not a huge fan of black tea, but I was really impressed with how sweet the tea was and the depth of flavor.

Master Han’s Looseleaf 2004 Shu Pu’er – Retail Value $8

Season With Spice Thai Red Chili Peppers – Retail Value $4.49

Red Boat Fish Sauce – Retail Value $6.95

I’ve been meaning to pick up fish sauce for the longest time. I am so excited to get this bottle, it is a little embarrassing. I have a few recipes already lined up to try out with this sauce.

Thoughts: The total value of this box was just under $60 and I absolutely loved it! I love Asian food (probably because I am part Asian!) and I love discovering new books, so this was a double win for me. I cannot wait to get the next Andrew Zimmern box when it comes out!

Julep Maven Review April 2014

julep maven vivid collection

I was really excited about this collection from Julep Maven, but I am on nail polish overload (seems impossible, I know), so I decided to choose one profile. The It Girl box in particular had really great colors, so I decided to go with this box and do the Felicia add-on.

Bailey – Retail Value $14

I can’t get enough blues. It is one of my favorite colors and a good blue always reminds me ever so slightly of Doctor Who.

Maren – Retail Value $14

I am not a huge pink fan, but I adore this color with the blue sheen added to it!

Flora – Retail Value $14

This color is even prettier in person, I can’t stop looking at it on my nails!

julep maven review

Felicia – Retail Value $14

I got this add-on because I was intrigued by the color combination. At first I thought it would not look great on, but it does not look that bad.

Thoughts: I really liked every color in the collection this month, but I am particularly happy with this box and am glad that I chose it. These are great colors to start off the Spring season!

Conscious Box Review March 2014 Vegan Box

conscious box review

I’ve been on a mini hiatus from the blog to catch up on things in my personal life, but now I am trying to get back on track, so hopefully I can get the next few reviews and giveaways done in a timely manner! Last month I signed up for the free three-month subscription to Conscious Box. The last time I tried their boxes was almost a year ago. I was not too impressed with my first box, but they continued to get better and their customer service was always good, so I was excited to restart a subscription.

I used this with some hummus chips and this made a delicious snack.

Alo Vella Wrinkless Cream

Via Nature Lotion

Derma E. Skin Care Solution Sample Kit

I have another sample like this from another box and love it. These aren’t really your typical foil samples because they are larger and you can get a few good uses. I liked this sample a lot.

Mighty Leaf Teas

I really love Mighty Leaf Teas, so I was glad to find these in the box! I’ve already enjoyed the mint tea last night before bed and it was so relaxing.

Vibrant Health Raw Green Food

I love using raw food meal in my smoothies and energy snacks, so this will be used.

Vintage Italia Pasta Chips

These were very tasty. My daughter and I gobbled them up immediately. They are crunchier than your average chip and there is a lot of depth to the flavor.

Thank You Card

This was really cute and I’ve already used it!

conscious box reviews Coupons

Thoughts: Like with my first box from Conscious Box, I am not too excited about the foil samples. I did not do values simply because I do not normally do values on foil samples. The value is not here for me and I hope that the next two boxes will be better. I love discovery and did discover new brands from the box, but I would prefer to have fewer, but larger samples per box. That being said, I did like a lot of the samples I did receive.

Ramona Contour DD+

I love this set. I love the mix of the lace and pinstripes. I am also really in love with the light pink rose color. The fit is great and is one of the most supportive bras I’ve worn in a while.

Thoughts: I definitely think this is one of my new pairs from Adore Me. I am really impressed with the fit and support. I would probably end up paying way for for a matching bra and underwear set like this, so the value is definitely there for me.

Angel Beauty Box Review March 2014

angel beauty box review

As a mixed race person, I’ve always been interested in the subscription boxes for women of color. Nicka K Quad Eye Shadow in Sacramento – Retail Value $4.99

This eye shadow set is super bright! I would have used the pink and purple when I was in college, but I am not sure I can pull it off now. I think the dark blue and the purple might make a great night look.

Dr Miracles Double Deep Moisturizing Mask – Foil Sample

This sample will not be enough for me to really see how it works with my long, thick hair. I will be better off giving this to someone else.

angel beauty box review

Make Up Remover Cloth – Retail Value $1?

The make up remover does not have a brand name on it, so I am not sure about cost. It works just fine though.

Beauty Treats Darling Diamond Lip Gloss in Rich Raisin - Retail Value $4.99

This is a really pretty color, but it goes on sheer.

angel beauty box review

Nicka K Absolute Brightening Essence Mask Tissue - Retail Value $2.99

I tried one of these masks before and I loved it, I am really excited to give this a try again.

Thoughts: As my first Angel Beauty Box, I am on the fence with how I feel about it. Considering that I paid nothing for the box, the value is great, but at the $20 price point, it is a little lacking with a total retail value of just under $17. I do love the nail polish and face mask, but the hair mask and non-brand make up remover leave me less than impressed. I think I will need to try out another box to decide if I really like it.

Bogo Bowl Healthy Weight – Retail Value $5

My co-worker’s dog is getting this as a gift. I wouldn’t say her dog has a weight problem, but she is a little “curvier” than other dogs in her breed, so we will see how this goes. I was surprised at how generous this sample bag is!

Jump Joint Healthy Chew Supplement – Retail Value $10

Organic Oscar Shampoo and Conditioner - Retail Value $11.99 each

I am really interested in seeing how this works. $12 per bottle is more than I would spend, but it is always nice to be able to try something pricier for our pets.

Thoughts: The total value of this box was over $60 and the products were full or deluxe-sized. I loved the quality of everything and I am the best pet aunt ever thanks to this box.

Orange You Happy

This was my favorite snack in the box this month. I wish I had a whole box of this! I loved the orange granola clusters and orange infused cranberries.

Oh My Thai

I did not think I would enjoy this snack, but the savory sweet contract with the curry and fruit was nice.

Copa Cabana Rama

I loved this mix. I was expecting the banana chips to be dehydrated bananas and softer, but I loved the crunchy contrast they had with the mangoes and pineapples.

7th Inning Stretch

I really liked this mix. It had an unusual twist with the pretzels which were surprisingly sweet.

Thoughts: I really liked my box this month. I really fell in love with Orange You Happy and I think I could eat that every day!
