FabKids Review June 2014

It’s been a year since I last reviewed FabKids, so I thought now would be a good time to give them another try.

The Cost: $29.95

The Products: FabKids is related to JustFab and Fabletics. Each month you will be charged the monthly fee which you can apply to a new outfit for your child.

Other Reviews: You can read my past FabKids reviews here.

Gingham Bow Dress – Retail Value $29.95

I absolutely love this dress for the summer months! It is so rustic and I want to buy my daughter a pair of little cowgirl boots to match!

Back Zip Heart Dress – Retail Value $29.95

This I bought for the cooler days and the fall months. I love the navy blue with the bit of neon yellow in the back. It has a very retro feel that I adore.

fabkids review

I couldn’t get her to stay still long enough to get a nice shot of what the dress looks like. This is a size S (4 – 5) and she normally wears a size 3T – 4T, the last outfit we bought last year was an XS and I felt it shrunk a lot after we washed it, so I like that this dress fit a little better.

Thoughts: The quality of the outfits is great, especially considering the price. I do not always like the styles offered on the site, but you can find a few gems like these two dresses every so often. While I do think their regular price listed is a bit inflated, the VIP price is right on mark with what I would pay in a department store for similar like, kind and quality. What do you think about FabKids?

The Boodle Box Review May 2014

boodle box review

There are a lot more subscription boxes for young girls these days (hopefully there will be a few more for young boys as well!), which is great because I know a few young girls who get box envy and would love their own subscriptions. When Boodle Box kindly offered me a box to review, I was eager to say yes!

boodle box

The Cost: $24.99 a month (save with a prepaid subscription)

The Products: The Boodle Box was created for young fashionista girls who love to discover new age-appropriate products. You can find some of the trending and top products from popular companies.

The Concept: This box was created as a fun way for younger girls to get a surprise based on their fashion-forward interests.

Cina Steel Magnolia Nail Decals - Retail Value $2.95

These are super cute and a fun way for younger girls to decorate their nails if parent’s aren’t yet comfortable with using nail polish colors, or to use with this nail polish provided.

Nails Inc Haymarket - Retail Value $3

I love this color, it is so perfect for the warm weather.

boodle box

Large Blue Swirl Lollipop Bath Fizzy- Retail Value $2.20 (approx)

This lollipop is not in fact candy, but a bath fizzy. I love products like this, so I am really excited to try it out at bath time with my daughter.

boodle box

Lilly Pulitzer Market Bag – Retail Value $12.95

I love this bag! The print looks even better in person and it holds a ton of groceries.

boodle box

Katy Perry Purr Perfume – Sample

I was glad this was such a small sample. It is a nice sweet scent for a younger girl and enough to keep said girl from going too crazy with it.

Marina’s Closet Accessories Hair Tie  - Retail Value $2.50

I thought this was super cute. The band is really hard to stretch, so I use it with another hair tie when I put it on my daughter.

boodle box

Neon Silicone Chain Link Bracelets – Retail Value $1 ?

Cute. I see a lot of kids wearing these, so I was expecting something like this in the box.

Thoughts: I thought this box was a great crowd pleaser for their target audience. As an adult getting this for a young girl, it would definitely be something I would consider for a birthday gift. I’m excited to see what the will include for their June box!

IBbeautiful Review May 2014 Tween Subscription + Giveaway

ibbeautiful review subscription box

Pretty Yum Thing Face Lotion - Retail Value $10

This smells really great. A lot of the kid’s products like this that I was used to when I was a child smelled really artificial and cheap which is certainly not the case here. I am so in love with the smell and that is it all-natural.

ibbeautiful review subscription box

Sequin Headband – Retail Value $14

This headband was so adorable, I almost wanted it for myself, except it is way too small for me.

Bohemian Friendship Bracelet – Retail Value $12

These bracelets are always in style and I was really happy to see this in the box.

ibbeautiful review subscription box Sticky Tabs – Retail Value $6

These were so adorable. I wasn’t sure what they were at first (they hold your place in your book), but with such cute characters – who cares?

Thoughts: There were also mustache nail decals in the box which were not originally a part of this box, but a part of their other age group box that I was not able to get a picture of. Overall, I am impressed with the value and products in the box. My co-worker’s step-daughter is the little lady who helped me review the box and she was so excited about everything in the box. She said everything was great and she could not wait to use everything (she put the bracelet on right away and was trying to figure out what to do with the nail decals before realizing what they were.)

The ladies from IBbeautiful have also kindly offered to give away a box to one lucky reader! Just fill out the entries below!

I subscribed to Citrus Lane a few months back and loved the boxes, when they had a deal for a free box last month, I had to jump on the chance to get another box.  Skip Through the Seasons by Stella Blackstone and Maria Carluccio – Retail Value $6.99

This book is a ton of fun for us to read. It really helps to show how the seasons change with each month. I love that it has a seek and find within each month. It’s a fun way to learn to be more observant,

Green Eats Tumblers – Retail Value $6.28

My daughter has a ton of her own special cups that she uses, so this will probably be gifted. I do like that they are made from recycled plastic and big enough to prevent a lot of sloshing while toddlers attempt to run away with their cups.

Green Toys Flower Set – Retail Value $27.99

My daughter loves playing with this flower set and I admit I have a ton of fun playing with her! This is definitely a hit with us!

Thoughts: This box was a hit with us! We loved pretty much everything in the box and definitely think the value was there for us. As a kid’s subscription box, it is definitely on the top of the list.

Bluum Kid’s Subscription Box Review and Coupon November 2013

bluum kids subscription box

For some reason, I’ve been having nothing but issues. My mailman decided he didn’t want to deliver my boxes anymore (do I really get THAT many?!), then I’ve been having issues getting posts to publish. It’s been a very frustrating week! There – rant over! About the box, I’ve kept Bluum over the other kid’s subscription boxes because I liked the variety of the products and found the price to be very good for the value. There are a few more toddler subscription boxes I want to try out, so I am hoping for a few good Black Friday deals!

Scratch & Grain Baking Gluten-Free Chocolate Truffle Cookie Kit - Retail Value $7.99

Baking Made Simple - Retail Value $7.19

These were more items for me than for my daughter. I know in the product description, they added these as a fun activity for us to do together, but I know I will have more fun with it.

bluum kids subscription box

Turn & Learn Baby Animals - Retail Value $7.99

We already have this book and my daughter loves it. This will make a great gift this Christmas!

bluum kid's subscription box review

Clairvoyant Soothing Lip Balm Wild Honey - Retail Value $10

BabyLegs in Janelle - Retail Value $12

I love Babyegs – I used them constantly when my daughter was younger because it allowed us to see the cute prints of her cloth diapers while keeping her warm. She doesn’t wear her BabyLegs much anymore, so these will be gifted to another baby.

Thoughts: This was a really great box overall, but I felt like it was curated mostly for mom than for baby. The two kid-specific items are products my daughter will not be able to use, but they will be great gifts. The total retail value of this box was over $45 which is great for the price.

grEAT Kids Healthy Snack Box Review

great kids healthy snack box review

As a mom I am always on a mission to try and keep healthy snacks around for my daughter, especially since she really loves her snacks! Everyday she constantly asks for snacks before, after and during her meals. So when I found out about GrEAT Kids Healthy Snack Box, I was so intrigued by their mission and so thrilled when they offered me a box to review.

great kids healthy snack box review

The Cost: $39.95 a month

The Products: In each GREAT Kids Healthy Snack Box, you will receive about 30 healthy grab-and-go snacks for your child.

What really grabbed my attention about the box was Kyle, the Founder of the company’s inspiration for the box:

[box] “GREAT Kids Snacks all started when I was at the San Diego Zoo chaperoning a fieldtrip. I expected to see some amazing animals and kids running around behaving like wild animals, but when it came to feeding time I was shocked. It almost seemed like the animals in captivity were eating better than the kids. The school provided “lunch” for some kids, which consisted of a juice, canned chicken salad (it made me gag), graham crackers, and apple sauce of some sort. Every single kid only ate the graham crackers and drank the juice. As for the kids who were lucky enough for mom or dad to pack their lunch, it was not much better. I saw a lot of lunchables, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, sodas, sugary juices, and candy bars. I thought I was going to be amazed by the animals, instead I was amazed by what these kids were provided to eat.

[...] there needs to be a convenient way for parents to provide their children with healthy foods. Starting with snacks, I have set out to make parents lives easier by sending a box to their door of 30 individually wrapped snacks made of organic and all-natural ingredients. I believe the convenience factors of not having to determine if something is healthy or not, and not having to venture down countless isles at the grocery store will help parents provide their kids with the foods that growing children should be and deserve to be eating.

I wanted to take the stress out of wondering is this actually healthy? What if my child doesn’t like this? Do I have enough time to stop at the store? You can be assured all 30 of the snacks, are healthy and will arrive at your doorstep by the 1st of every month. We all know kids a picky eaters and as a parent it can be a struggle to find out what they like or don’t like. The variety in the GREAT Kids Snack Box allows a kid to sample 30 different snacks every month with the option to order his or her favorites in bulk. “[/box]

Considering the mission of the box, I am not going to do my typical value-breakdown of the snacks.

Popcorn Indiana Original Kettle Corn

Smart Puffs Real Wisconsin Cheddar

We like to pop our popcorn on the stovetop without any butter or salt, so this is a nice on-the-go treat that is also a little sweet which is a nice change.

What I like about Smart Puffs is that it is a nice transition snack for kids who may be more used to similar snacks that are not as healthy. The best part? Smart Puffs is gluten-free!

Veggie-Go’s Fruit & Veggie Strip

Stretch Island Fruit Leather

I love Justin’s peanut butter so I am always happy to get more.

I had the fruit & veggie strip because it had ginger and I knew my daughter wouldn’t like it. There is a very sharp ginger flavor to it so it was not my favorite either.

Cruncha Ma-Me

Funky Monkey Carnaval Mix

I only just discovered Cruncha Ma-Me from my Fancy Pants Food box, so I was so happy to be able to try it again. I really love edamame, so this is a wonderful snack for me to keep around.

We love our freeze-dried fruit snacks, so the Funky Monkey was devoured right away.

Thoughts: I am super impressed by the intention and curation of this box. I also love the snacks themselves. I feel as though there is such a variety of snacks from which to choose and many are healthier versions of what kids usually like to eat already. Even without doing a value-breakdown I can tell that you are really getting a great deal for your money and this is a box I would love to try again!

Kiwi Crate Storytelling Box Review November 2013 – Kid’s Subscription Box

kiwi crate storytelling review

Kiwi Crate quickly became one of my favorite subscription boxes for my daughter. As soon as she sees the box, she knows it is for her and cannot wait to do the craft inside.

The Cost: $19.95 a month – you can do a sibling add-on for $9.95 per child each month.

The Products: Kiwi Crate provides materials you need for 2 crafts and usually includes a small story book and a mini craft. The crates are targeted to children aged 3 – 7, but my two year old enjoys doing the crafts with my assistance. You can read my past Kiwi Crate reviews here.

kiwi crate storytelling review

I love the storybook they include in each box. It is so much fun to read through and it really sets up the theme for that particular crate.

kiwi crate storytelling review

Here is a page of the story in this month’s box.

kiwi crate storytelling review

Our two crafts were My Story Theater and My String Puppet.

kiwi crate storytelling review

My String Puppet

These are the materials for the string puppet. I tied the string to the rod and twisted the fuzzy pipe cleaner as well as did the legs. My daughter was able to do everything else. She loved the finished product and laughed every time I made him dance. Unfortunately, his head fell off within half an hour.

kiwi crate storytelling review

My Story Theater

My daughter wasn’t too amused by the theater itself. She preferred to play with the stickers and put them on the film strips. It is one of those instances where I had more fun with the main part of the project.

Thoughts: This was definitely a fun craft for us to do together. Although my daughter did not quite appreciate both crafts equally, it is not exactly a box made for her age. I know she would love it once she is a bit older. Overall, I really love Kiwi Crate for my daughter and she plays with the projects we do in this box more than any other toys I buy her. This is the one kid’s subscription box I find I recommend more than any of the others.

What do you think of Kiwi Crate? What id your favorite kid’s subscription box?
