Lootcrate Review November 2013

lootcrate review november

Lootcrate is one of the most popular monthly subscription boxes for geeks and gamers. This month was all about celebration and anniversaries. The only thing I could think of when I heard the month’s theme was the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, so I was really excited to see what was in the box!

Doctor Who TARDIS Balloon and Police Box Sticker – Retail Value $2

I was a little disappointed to see these were the only two Doctor Who products in the box. I am guessing that since they included something from Doctor Who earlier this year, they didn’t want to do too much of a repeat. I am giving these to my boss’s daughters who have recently become obsessed with Doctor Who.

The Original Tyvek Wallet in Batman - Retail Value $15

This simple, yet completely awesome wallet is one of the best inventions ever. The Tyvek is sustainable and completely resistant to water, rips and the general wear and tear your typical wallet gets over time. Plus, it is Batman which makes it even cooler.

This is the inside of the wallet. There is even more awesome Batman graphics inside the compartments. I gave this to my sister for her birthday (she is a Thanksgiving baby).

BFAST Nutritious Breakfast Shake in Strawberry - Retail Value $2?

Butters South Park Sound Blastin’ Speaker – Retail Value $24.99

I was curious about the Breakfast shake which is advertised as liquid cereal. It was pretty tasty.

The Butters speaker is really neat and will make an awesome Christmas present!

Bicycle Guardians Card Deck – Retail Value $4

First Person Shooter Shot Glass – Retail Value $2

We are always looking around for a deck of cards to no avail, so I am really glad to get a pretty cool new deck!

Thoughts: This was a pretty cool box, even without anything really exciting for the 50th anniversary for Doctor Who. Everything will go to use by me or as a Christmas gift.

Loot Crate Survival Review October 2013 Geek + Gamer Subscription Box

Loot Crate is one of the most popular subscription boxes for geeks and gamers. To celebrate the Halloween season, their October box theme was Survival. I knew it has to be a zombie theme, so I had to sign up!

The Cost: $19.37 a month, including shipping

The Products: Loot Crate curates a box full of awesome novelty products for serious geeks and gamers as well as TV and movie enthusiasts.

Frankford Gummy Bugs Candy – Value $0.50
Loot Crate Zombie Survival Pins

The gummy candy tasted like grapes and bubblegum. It isn’t something I would ever give out at Halloween, but it was interesting to try out!

I love these pins so much, but I don’t have a use for them, I will probably give them to my boss’s daughter because she is a bit of a fangirl.

I Love Your Guts Card from Open Me – Value $4

This card was so great. I giggled out loud when I saw it. My fiancee doesn’t really get my passion for zombies, so this will have to be a best friend card!

This is the inside of the card – isn’t it cute?

Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks – Value $14.99

Oh my gosh! I’ve wanted this book for so long! I really don’t know why I never bought it before, but I am beyond ecstatic to have it now.

Zombie Hunter ID Card
Loot Crate Outbreak Status Temporary Tattoos

I really love these temporary tattoos. I will need to use them this Halloween. I think it would even be cool to make it look like a zombie bit me at on my “not infected” barcode.

Graphic Lab Ewoking Dead T-Shirt – Value $15

I may or may not have put this t-shirt on immediately after taking the photo and may or may not be wearing it this very moment. I’ve also told my boss I was wearing this in the office on Halloween and got the “okay.” So excited!

Thoughts: This box was just so perfect and I could not be any happier!! The contents were worth over $30,but to me the box is worth much more than that. One thing I would have to say is that I probably would subscribe to Loot Crate only when there is a theme I absolutely love like this (or a Doctor Who theme!).
