Bespoke Post Seared Review

bespoke post seared review

Ever since getting the salt block in my Mother’s Day Taste Trunk, I’ve been obsessed with trying new recipes with it. I decided I needed two salt blocks. One to use cold and the other to use hot. I knew Bespoke Post came out with Seared which included a salt block, so I decided that it was the perfect way to try out this popular men’s subscription box.

Here is some information about how to use the salt block.

bespoke post seared review

Himalayan Salt Block - Retail Value $34.95

This salt block is huge. This is the reason why I decided to get this particular box because a larger salt block would work better for heated recipes where I am more likely to use it to grill veggies, meats and seafood.

WMF Profi Plus Butterfly Turner - Retail Value $24

This is such a fancy looking spatula utensil. Apparently you cannot put it through the dishwasher, but it is perfect for getting under anything you may be grilling on the salt block.

Essential Cane Habanero & Sweet Onion Sugars - Retail Value $5

You can use these sugars for pretty much anything. I am so excited. I think they would work the best in a cocktail, but I will need to try to go out of my comfort zone and experiment with them. I tasted the sweet onion and it is so delicious. Sweet and savory all at once.

Thoughts: The value of this box is really there, at well over $60. I love that Bespoke Post in general exposes you to something completely different and many of their boxes are great for everyone, not just men. I am really excited to use everything in the box. What did you think of the Bespoke Post seared box? What did you make with your salt block?

Carnivore Club Review – Gourmet Meat Subscription Box

carnivore club

Carnivore Club is a new subscription box focused on high-quality gourmet meats to share with discerning foodies and meat-lovers alike. There are a few certified carnivores in my family, so when the company asked if I would like to do a review, I had to say yes.

carnivore club review

The Products: Each month, Carnivore Club will curate a box of 4 – 6 cured and smoked meats, charcuterie and jerky from across the globe. Every box will also include a small handbook detailing what each meat is and how to serve it.

Moroccan Lamb Coppa

This was the first item I chose because I love Moroccan food. It is infused with tumeric, aleppo peppers, caraway and cumin. I paired this with a variety of cheeses and homemade crackers. It was delicious and full of flavor. I think it would also pair well with a dark beer if you were to inclined.

Nduji Salami

This was my first time eating a salami with the soft texture like this and took some getting used to. The flavors were delicious and had the perfect amount of spice once you get past the texture. People who are more well-versed in salami varieties probably do not have that issue.

Duck Jerky Sticks

I love duck jerky sticks. I’ve had them on several occasions and am always happy to have more because you do not come across them often. I am planning on saving these for a special occasion.

carnivore club review

Dirty Martini Salami

This salami was crafted after Bombay Sapphire – one of my favorite drinks. I had to have a martini while I tried this salami and it was a match made in heaven.

Pancetta Americano

This pancetta is a hybrid between the traditional Italian pancetta and American bacon. I decided to save this because I need to experiment with it!

Thoughts: I decided not to due my usual value breakdown because of the uniqueness of the products (I would no know where to begin to get values), and because I think the true value of this box lies within the overall curation. The portion sizes were plenty to satisfy a small get together while still leaving a little leftover for you to snack on as you clean up. I loved the selection of this particular box and would definitely get this as a gift for any of the meat lovers I know.

Dollar Shave Club Review

dollar shave club reviews

In my quest for Christmas presents for my father, I remembered one subscription I knew he could not do without. The Dollar Shave Club is a shaving subscription service that sends out a premium razors each month. The best part? Your subscription can be as low as $1 (plus shipping of course).

dollar shave club reviews

The Cost: $1, $6 or $9 a month, depending on the number of blades you want each razor cartridge to have. Shipping is free on the $6 and $9 razors.

The Products: Each month, Dollar Shave Club will send you a razor with 4 cartridges (5 if you get the $1 package). I decided to get The Executive with 6 blades in each cartridge.

The Executive

With 6 blades, you are definitely going to get a close shave. I like that this particular razor comes with a trimmer which comes in handy. The razor also has  an aloe, vitamin E, and lavender lubricating strip.

Thoughts: The price for this razor is a real bargain, I think. We tend to forget about razors until we are in the shower then forget about them again the moment we get out, so having a subscription like this is invaluable. What I did not know about the Dollar Shave Club until after I placed my first order is that you can add on shaving butter and wipes for $8 and $4 respectively.

Lootcrate Review November 2013

lootcrate review november

Lootcrate is one of the most popular monthly subscription boxes for geeks and gamers. This month was all about celebration and anniversaries. The only thing I could think of when I heard the month’s theme was the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, so I was really excited to see what was in the box!

lootcrate review november

The Cost: $13.37, plus $6 shipping a month

The Products: You can expect 6 – 8 products centered around awesome geek/gamer themes. You can read my past Lootcrate reviews here.

Doctor Who TARDIS Balloon and Police Box Sticker – Retail Value $2

I was a little disappointed to see these were the only two Doctor Who products in the box. I am guessing that since they included something from Doctor Who earlier this year, they didn’t want to do too much of a repeat. I am giving these to my boss’s daughters who have recently become obsessed with Doctor Who.

The Original Tyvek Wallet in Batman - Retail Value $15

This simple, yet completely awesome wallet is one of the best inventions ever. The Tyvek is sustainable and completely resistant to water, rips and the general wear and tear your typical wallet gets over time. Plus, it is Batman which makes it even cooler.

lootcrate review november

This is the inside of the wallet. There is even more awesome Batman graphics inside the compartments. I gave this to my sister for her birthday (she is a Thanksgiving baby).

BFAST Nutritious Breakfast Shake in Strawberry - Retail Value $2?

Butters South Park Sound Blastin’ Speaker – Retail Value $24.99

I was curious about the Breakfast shake which is advertised as liquid cereal. It was pretty tasty.

The Butters speaker is really neat and will make an awesome Christmas present!

lootcrate review november

Bicycle Guardians Card Deck – Retail Value $4

First Person Shooter Shot Glass – Retail Value $2

We are always looking around for a deck of cards to no avail, so I am really glad to get a pretty cool new deck!

Thoughts: This was a pretty cool box, even without anything really exciting for the 50th anniversary for Doctor Who. Everything will go to use by me or as a Christmas gift.

Turquoise Aviators with Silver Beading Lining

I love the turquoise color and the silver beading. This isn’t really a pair of sunglasses I would wear during the fall, but I still really love this pair of sunglasses a lot. I will definitely be saving these for the moment the weather starts to heat up again!

Thoughts: I loved this pair of sunglasses and think the price is definitely fair for this pair. Although I don’t look very good in aviators. I will have to find a way to rock this look because I really want to keep these for myself!

What do you think about Stunner of the Month? What does your favorite pair of stunners look like?

Stunner of the Month Review October 2013 – Sunglass Subscription Box

I first signed up for Stunner of the Month in August to see what they were all about. The concept of receiving a new pair of sunglasses seemed like such a neat idea to me!

The Cost: $9 a month, including shipping

The Products: Each month, Stunner of the Month delivers a new pair of collectible sunglasses to you. You can see my past Stunner of the Month reviews here.

I love these stunners! I think they are very retro looking and fit my sense of style perfectly. I could not be any happier with these sunglasses.

Thoughts: I think Stunner of the Month is such a neat subscription. For a nice pair of sunglasses and a pouch to put it in, this is definitely worth the price each month.

What do you think about Stunner of the Month? What was your favorite pair of stunners you’ve received from them? Do you know of any other novel subscription boxes similar to this?

Black Socks Review October 2013 – Men’s Sock Subscription

Black Socks is a newer sock subscription for men, aptly dubbed “sockscription”. They kindly offered me this subscription to review.

The Cost: You can opt for a 3-month subscription of 3 pairs for $89, or a one time subscription for $12 for one pair.

The Products: Black Socks is a sock company that specializes in high quality, tailored socks for men.

Classic Black Cotton Socks – Value $9.80

These socks were made in Italy made with Peruvian Pima cotton and a blend of LYCRA and polyamide. They are very soft to the touch and although I would never normally buy a pair of socks at this cost on my own, I think the quality definitely warrants the cost. This would be perfect for a businessman.

Thoughts: I think this is a great subscription for businessmen or any man who enjoys a good pair of socks, but doesn’t want to bother with getting them on his own. These are the softest socks I’ve tried and even though they are for men, I will probably keep them for myself!

What do you think about Black Socks? What is your favorite sock subscription?

Stunner of the Month Review and Coupon! August 2013- Sunglasses Subscription

The Products: Stunner of the Month sends out a pair of sunglasses plus a small extra each month.

stunner of the month review

Stunners – Value $9

I do not see a brand name on this pair, so I am not sure about the value. I like the style a lot and I stuck them in my car.

stunner of the month review

Bottle Opener – Value $2

I thought this was a simple, but nice addition to the box.

Thoughts: I liked my first pair of sunglasses. I do not know that I would ever keep this subscription on a regular basis because I do not wear sunglasses too often. This is definitely a subscription I would keep for a few months each year, however.

BroBox Review August 2013 – Men’s Subscription Box

What I love most about BroBox is that it is one of the most affordable subscription boxes for men. Their products also have a more mass appeal for more men in America. BroBox kindly sent me this box for review.
The Cost: $14.95 for one month

The Products: BroBox focuses on everything your average guy will need from snacks to workout supplements and everything in-between.

Chipins in Sea Salt and Buffalo Wing – Value $1.50 each

I tried both snacks and thought they were wonderful. The Buffalo Wing was a pleasant surprise and the Sea Salt was the perfect salty snack.

Perky Jerky in Beef and Turkey – Value $1.50 each

My family loves jerky, but we are not big on the Perky Jerky. I tried both and left them on the counter where they remain.

BroBox Wrist Sweatband – Value $3
I thought the muscle soak was a really great addition to the box. I know my fiancee will love all three products during one of his workout sessions.

Face Skin Care Ultimate Comfort Shave Cream - Value $3.75

Thoughts: This was another great box from BroBox! Last month, I said BroBox was the best box for your average American man, but thinking it over, this is a really great box for any man who is looking to sample a few great products without spending a ton of money.
