The Perfume Samples: Night, Au Lait, black Angel

Night by Sarabecca – The name suggests a heavier, musky scent, but I was pleasantly surprised by the light, citrus notes mixed with patchouli and sage. I love citrus scents, so this was a winner for me. It is not a scent I would wear everyday. I think it would make a great scent for a date night with the girls.

Au Lait DSH Perfumes – This scent is described as having notes of warm milk, sweet cream, French vanilla and other warm, creamy scents. The description is dead on. I am not usually a vanilla person, but I am addicted to this scent. I think it is the perfect winter scent and I’ve already used up half my sample. It mixes well with your own natural fragrance and is sweet, but still very light. I love it.

Black Angel by Mark Buxton – When I first smelled Black Angel, I immediately thought it would make a great unisex perfume. When I went to the Olfactif website and read more about the scent, I found out it was indeed meant as a unisex scent. It has notes of styrax, mandarin, amber, ginger, orris, jasmine and patchouli. It is a nice smell, but not for me.

Thoughts: I really enjoyed the experience of discovering new boutique scents and really fell in love with one scent in particular. That being said, I just cannot justify the price of the subscription knowing I can get samples this size for free anywhere. Even with the coupon, shipping costs, and experience value in consideration, the cost of the subscription is above what I would be willing to pay.
