I decided I wanted to try every meal subscription and Plated was at the top of my list. They had a pretty interesting menu a few weeks ago and I had to try it out!
The Cost: $10 a plate for VIP members, $14 a plate for non-members. VIP members accrue a $10 monthly membership fee.
The Coupon: Use code FIRSTPLATED to get your first 4 plates for free – just pay $10 shipping!
The Products: Each week you will have a choice of five meals for you to choose. Each plate is expertly created by a chef to be nutritious, filling and delicious.
We made the Herb-Roasted Chicken, which was delicious, albeit a little spicy for my daughter. She enjoyed it so much that she kept insisted on eating more and taking large gulps of water after each bite!
I wanted to take pictures of the Soy Citrus Chicken with Soba Noodles, but again, everyone dug in before I could get anything done! I loved the marinade and dressing paired with the vegetables and noodles, but the chicken was a little bland for me. I think next time I try the recipe on my own, I will add a few chili flakes to add a bit of a kick.
The ingredients for each meal were neatly packed and labeled. The herbs were packed separately, and they were labeled with what each herb was instead of the recipe it belonged to which ended up with some confusion when we accidentally opened the wrong pack of herbs!
This was the packing of the box. The ice packs were still frozen, but overall, it was much lighter to carry compared to Hello Fresh which I appreciate!
Thoughts: I really love Plated! When comparing it to Hello Fresh, I feel as though both companies certain have their strengths and weakness and in the end, they are both equally good. In the end, it depends on your own personal situation. I do like that you have more meal customization with Plated compared to Hello Fresh, so you know you will get meals you like each week. Skipping and canceling is also easy.
