yuzen winter 2013 review

I was completely smitten by my first Yuzen subscription box, so I was delighted to hear they were already sending out the Winter boxes. To be honest, I was a little jealous of the people who got theirs last month.

The Cost: $33 a quarter

The Products: Yuzen sends out high-end spa and wellness products plus a nice snack or treat. You can read my last Yuzen box review here.

Sanitas Moisture Mist – 60 ml Value $6

I love facial mists like this, but I already have a few bottles that I want to try, so this will sadly be a stocking stuffer this year.

Jurlique Rose Hand Cream – .5 oz Value $9.40

Rose-scented products are so great. I tried this cream and it is so ultra-hydrating and makes your hands feel baby soft. I love this stuff!

Kerstin Florian Foot Balm – 1 oz Value $8

Level Naturals Lavender Chamomile Soy Travel Candle – Value $6

This foot balm works like a charm. I always struggle with dry skin, and after a couple of uses, I could really tell the difference.

Jane Iredale 24-Karat Gold Dust Shimmer Powder - Value $13.50 (Full Size!)

This gold dust is so nice! It is ultra shimmery and reminds me of when I used to do Egyptian makeups in high school and college.

Thoughts: This was a really great box. Tons of great products and the value was abbout $60! To be honest, I was more in love with the Fall box, but everything will be used by me or a family member and I really love the curation of the box as a whole. My favorite products were the hand and foot creams and the nail polish.

What did you think of the Winter 2013 Yuzen box? What were your favorite products?

Sparaj Review, Coupon and Giveaway!!! September 2013 Pre-Launch Box

Sparaj is a new spa and wellness subscription box that focuses on craft artisan goods from Asia. Unlike a typical subscription service, there is no recurring billing. Instead you buy each box individually and have the option for prepaying for months. I love discovering artisan goods from new areas, so I was thrilled to be offered one of their pre-launch boxes to review.

The Cost: $40 per box, you can prepay for 3, 6 or 12 month subscription and save

The Coupon: Use code MAVEN5 for $5 off your first box! Expires November 30th

The Products: Sparaj box focuses on natural products from artisans across Asia. Ingredients are locally-sourced across Asia and are targeted toward wellness and sustainability. Their aim is to showcase the lessor known talents in Asia and breakdown stereotypes of the area only creating generic and mass-products products.

Breathe Mini Dew Drop Diffuser – Value $8

I think this diffuser is so adorable. I love that the flower changes its color after a few days after it’s begun to absorb the oils. It has a wonderful Plumeria scent that fills up the room without being overbearing.

Harnn Cymbopogon Body Care – Value $25

This body wash and moisturizer set has an addictive lemongrass scent that I absolutely love! I think this is one of my favorite products in the box because of the scent alone!

Serevana Jasmine Natural Soap – Value $5

The ingredients for this soap is Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Rice Barn Oil and Jasmine Essential Oil. I love that all the ingredients are easily recognizable and well-known. The soap is ultra-moisturizing with a delicate scent.

Siam Botanicals Organic Facial Kit – Value $11

This kit includes : Rosehip & Tea Tree Cleanser, Organic Coconut Sugar & Honey Face Polish, Rosewater Toning Mist and Replenish Face Serum. I love that all the ingredients are all-natural and sourced locally from the production area around  Southeast Asia, Africa and India. The presentation of the kit is also really cute!

Asia Herb Association Plai Herbal Hot Ball – Value $9

My box did not come with an information card, so I was not sure what this was at first. Upon closer inspection, I realized you heat it up and use it to relieve stiffness and soreness. The smell is reminiscent of Vapor Rub to me. I woke up with a crick in my neck this morning and used it for 20 minutes while eating breakfast with my daughter and it really did help!

Thoughts: Opening my box was a true sensory delight. I do not think Sparaj could have created a more perfect first box. This is a great gift box for yourself or someone you know. What I truly love is that you are not able to find any of these products in the American market, and most of these companies do not even ship to America at this time. (Sparaj did note they were planning on selling these items in their shop in the future). I cannot wait to see what future boxes hold.

Sparaj has kindly offered one reader a 3-month subscription, so enter below for your chance to win our Sparaj giveaway!

Yuzen Fall Box Review – Spa and Beauty Subscription Box

A couple of weeks ago, I finally came off the waiting list for Yuzen. I’ve been on the list since early May, so this was much anticipated for me! Yuzen recently increased their price, but I think it is still worth it for me!

The Cost: $33 a quarter, including shipping
The Products: Each quarter Yuzen sends out a selection of beauty, spa-related products.
Sphatika Rose Cleansing Foam – Value $27.50

I have not used either product yet, but I am really excited to try the rose cleansing foam. I love rose anything!
Sanitas Vita-Rich Serum – Value $27
Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive – Value $5
I have a growing collection of serums I have that I want to try, but this is near the top of my list to try.
I tried the Green Apple Peel this weekend and it was really nice. I love fruit acid exfolliators because they are so gentle on the skin and do not dry out your skin like most traditional exfoliators.
COOLA Mineral Face Sunscreen Unscented – Value $5
Tridoshic Bath Tea – Value $4
I love the COOLA face sunscreen. I use it nearly every day, so I was thrilled to have another to stick in my purse!
Lately, I’ve been taking lots of baths because of the bath bombs, salts and teas I’ve been getting from my subscription boxes. I see me enjoying this tea soak this weekend with some wine!

Verve Organics Soul Sister Lavender Nut Sugar Scrub Mini – Value $4
Torie & Howard Organic Hard Candy in Blood Orange & Honey – Value $5
These hard candies are delicious! I brought them to work for a mid-day treat.
Thoughts: I was so happy with this box. I can tell you this box is truly amazing considering I’ve used nearly every product in the box already. Not to mention the total value of the box is over $80! Yuzen still has a waitlist, but it is certainly a box worth waiting for.
What do you think about Yuzen? If you’ve been a subscriber for a while, are all boxes this good?
